Harmotai - China star custom hotel furniture manufacturer & supplier since 2009.

From a Raw Board to a Guest Room: How a 77,000㎡ Factory Delivers Fully Custom Hotel Furniture

In the hospitality industry, furniture is never just a collection of standardized products. For four-star and five-star hotels, as well as high-end serviced apartment projects, every piece of furniture must align precisely with the spatial design language and integrate seamlessly with the brand identity. Behind this lies a factory's full-chain capability — from material selection to final delivery.

Ronghetai Furniture, based in Longjiang, Shunde, Foshan — a region widely recognized as China's furniture manufacturing hub — has specialized in fully custom hotel furniture and apartment furniture since 2009. Within its 77,000-square-meter facility, more than 400 staff process daily orders that range from guestroom headboards to lobby carved screens. Rarely are two pieces identical.

Customization Starts with System Capability

The challenge of fully custom furniture lies in the fact that it goes beyond simple "make-to-drawing" production. A hotel project's furniture list often runs into hundreds of line items, spanning both fixed furniture and loose furniture categories, each with distinct functional requirements, material combinations, and process routes.

Take a standard guestroom as an example: the headboard must balance upholstered comfort with flame-retardant standards, wardrobe doors need to match the overall wood veneer color code, desk surfaces require wear and stain resistance, and bathroom vanity units must be moisture-proof. These different materials — wood veneer, marble, stainless steel, leather, fabric — all need coordinated scheduling within a single production cycle.

Ronghetai's approach is to produce both fixed and movable furniture in the same factory. The factory is equipped with two complete production lines, from wood veneer processing (KUBO veneer sewing machine, KUBO veneer cutting machine), panel processing (Nanxing six-sided drill, Nanxing edge banding machine, Nanxing electronic saw), CNC carving (Xinke CNC machine) to panel painting and assembly; and from solid wood cutting (Masters MX5117B vertical milling machine) to soft cover sewing. This integrated layout avoids common issues such as color differences, delivery delays, and after-sales disputes that often arise from cross-factory collaboration. For hotel buyers, it is a solution to reduce risks from the root.

This is a critical consideration for hotel procurement teams: cross-factory collaboration often leads to color inconsistencies, delivery misalignment, and after-sales disputes. Integrated production eliminates these risks at the source.

The Unseen Standardization: Quality Begins with Base Materials

Customization does not mean a lack of discipline. At Ronghetai, every batch of base material — whether plywood, MDF, or composite board — undergoes grade verification upon arrival. E1, E0, and ENF-grade panels are selected according to each project's positioning and requirements.

In terms of hardware, according to the standard requirements of hotel brands, brands such as DTC, Hettich, Blum, or Häfele can be selected. In soft upholstery, the combination of bandages and serpentine springs has become a mature solution for sofas and lounge chairs. The sponge density is configured differently according to the usage scenario - high resilience for public areas and more comfort for guest rooms. These details determine the user experience and service life of the furniture.

From Design to Delivery: A Team Effort

Another critical node in custom hotel furniture manufacturing is drawing conversion. The design concept provided by the hotel's design firm must be translated into executable production drawings — a step handled at Ronghetai by a team of 15 fixed furniture designers and 3 loose furniture designers.

The drawing turnaround typically takes 7 to 10 days, with outputs batched according to production phases. This phased approach allows the factory to begin manufacturing while subsequent drawings are still in progress, keeping the overall project schedule on track. It is worth noting that the factory delivers production orthographic drawings rather than 3D renderings — the latter are typically provided by the design firm, while the factory excels at translating design intent into precise machining instructions.

Manufacturing Upgrades in a Changing Industry

Several trends are accelerating transformation across the hotel furniture industry:

Green compliance as a baseline requirement. Under the updated national standards, ENF-grade panels, water-based paints, and B1-rated flame-retardant materials have become entry-level requirements for mid-to-high-end hotel projects. Ronghetai holds FSC, CQC, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 certifications, providing a systematic foundation for environmental and quality management.

The parallel rise of modularity and customization. Hotels want furniture that reflects brand identity (customization) while ensuring ease of future maintenance and replacement (modularity). Resolving this tension requires thoughtful structural design at the planning stage.

The expansion of service scope. The role of a furniture factory is evolving from "selling furniture" to delivering end-to-end solutions: site surveys, spatial planning recommendations, 1:1 physical sample approval, batch production, phased logistics and installation, and long-term maintenance. Ronghetai's monthly production capacity provides stable support across this full service chain.

A Note for Hotel Procurement Professionals

When selecting a custom hotel furniture manufacturer, price is only one dimension. More valuable is evaluating the factory's production line completeness, material management capability, design team configuration, and project delivery track record. A factory with complete in-house production lines, a stable supply chain, mature craftsmanship, and an independent design team has the capability to manage a hotel project from sampling through to batch delivery.

In an increasingly competitive hospitality industry, furniture quality and service responsiveness are shifting from "nice-to-have" to "must-have." For factories like Ronghetai, this is precisely where seventeen years of accumulated expertise deliver real value.
